Legacies & Donations

Five Rivers is a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) and registered Gift Aid charity. The club is run by volunteers and survives on membership fees, rink fees and sales of food and drink at the club. Please see below for some ways in which you can financially help the Club during and after your lifetime.

Gift Aid Donations

The Club relies financially on its members, visitors and bar and catering sales to sustain itself. The Club secured its CASC status a number of years ago  and registered for the Gift Aid scheme with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

As Five Rivers is registered for Gift Aid it means that individuals can make donations to the Club and Five Rivers can reclaim an additional 25p for every £1 donated back from HMRC. It is important to note that any donors must have paid sufficient income tax or capital gains tax in any tax year in which they make donations or they will be personally liable for any difference.

The Club also welcomes support from local and national companies who should receive tax relief on their donations.

Any donors (individuals or companies) should seek relevant tax advice if they are unsure of any tax impacts prior to making a donation.

The Gift Aid form to be used when making donations to the Club during a donor’s lifetime can be found below.

Legacies in your Will

Death is a difficult topic to discuss and a sad time for those close to someone who has died.

More and more people are finding themselves in a position where they have excess assets or fewer relatives to leave things to and many are now choosing to leave charitable legacies in their Will.

Over the past few years several  members have generously left sums of money to the Club. Some have been left with no specific purpose and have helped the Club with various aspects in recent years such as new club shirts for the representative teams.

However, some members prefer to leave a legacy for a specific project and the Club Committee will ensure that the deceased’s wishes are carried out in accordance with their generous legacy.

If you would like to leave a legacy to the Club in your Will please seek advice from your solicitor and contact Five Rivers Treasurer at treasurer@fiveriversibc.com who will be able to provide any relevant information required.
